Pre-Booked Station Taxis & Private Hire for Rail Journeys

Heathrow Airport Ride provides pre-booked train station transfers between London’s railway stations and homes, hotels, offices and airports. Tell us your station, destination and train time, choose a vehicle, and you’ll see an estimated fare before you book. A saloon transfer of up to 5 miles is estimated at £30.00. This is an estimated fare — you can confirm your fare at booking.

Station transfers have one quirk worth knowing upfront. In London, the taxi rank outside a station is for black cabs only, so pre-booked cars meet you at a designated pickup point instead. This page explains how that works at each major terminus.

Train Station Taxi and Private Transfer Services

A train station transfer is a private car booked in advance for the part of your journey the train doesn't cover.

That’s usually the stretch between your front door and the platform, or between the station and your hotel.

Pre-booked train station taxi services

Pre-booking means your car is arranged before you set off. That matters most at busy London termini. When a full intercity train arrives, the black-cab queue can stretch along the pavement, and on-demand ride-hailing prices tend to rise at the same moment.

Private railway station transfers

A private transfer carries only your party, straight to your address. There are no extra stops and no sharing, which makes it practical when you're carrying suitcases off a long-distance train.

Train station pickup and drop-off services

We cover both directions. A drop-off gets you to the station in time for your train. A pickup collects you after you arrive. Each has its own practical details, covered further down this page.

Local and long-distance station transfers

Most station transfers are short, across London from a terminus to a hotel or home. Some go further: from Paddington out to Heathrow, or from your home to a station in another city. Longer trips are priced the same way, by distance and vehicle.

Train Station Transfers to and from Different Destinations

From your front door to the platform — and back again.

Home to train station transfers

Leaving from home with luggage is often the hardest part of a rail trip, especially for an early departure. A pre-booked pickup takes you door to station entrance, so you start the journey on time and without a Tube change.

Train station to home transfers

Arriving late on a long-distance train, the last thing you want is a bus connection. Book your pickup for the train's scheduled arrival, and the final leg home is sorted before you board.

Train station to hotel transfers

Visitors arriving at King's Cross, St Pancras or Paddington often have a hotel a couple of miles away. That's a short trip by car but awkward by Tube with luggage. A pre-booked transfer takes you straight to the hotel entrance.

Hotel to train station transfers

Checking out and heading for your train? Book a pickup from the hotel at a time that leaves room for London traffic. A 2-mile trip can take 10 minutes on a Sunday morning and 30 at 5pm on a weekday.

Transfers between train stations

Crossing London between termini, say from Paddington to Liverpool Street, is a common journey for rail travellers changing between lines. By Tube it means stairs and escalators with your bags. A private transfer goes direct between the two stations.

Train station to business and event destinations

For meetings, conferences and events, a transfer from the station takes you straight to the venue door. That's useful when you're arriving smart and on a schedule.

London Train Station Transfers

London has ten main railway termini, each serving different parts of the country.

The table shows where each one is and what our pickup arrangement looks like there.

London’s ten main termini each connect to different regions. Euston and King’s Cross handle the long West and East Coast routes north. Paddington serves the West. Victoria and Waterloo cover the south and coast. Liverpool Street, London Bridge and Charing Cross reach the east and Kent. Marylebone handles Chiltern routes west.

Train Station Transfers Across Central London

Short trips. Central traffic. Allow time on weekday evenings.

Train station transfers across Central London

Most London station transfers are short central journeys. Typical trips run from Euston to a West End hotel, from Waterloo to the South Bank, or from Liverpool Street to the City. The distance is small, but central traffic decides the timing, so allow more time on weekday evenings.

London train station to hotel transfers

King's Cross, St Pancras and Paddington are the busiest stations for hotel transfers, because they're where Eurostar and many long-distance and airport trains arrive. Give us the hotel name and postcode when you book, and we'll take you to the main entrance.

Transfers between London's main railway stations

Worth knowing: some popular station pairs are close together. King's Cross and St Pancras sit across the road from each other, and Euston is a short walk away. Others, such as Paddington to London Bridge or Waterloo to King's Cross, are proper cross-London journeys where a car with your luggage saves a lot of effort.

London Euston train station transfers

Euston has been reshaped by HS2 preparation works. The black-cab rank moved to the front of the bus station in April 2024, and private hire cars use separate points around Euston Square Gardens. If you're being collected at Euston, follow your pickup details rather than heading for the rank.

Train Station Transfers Across the UK

From London to major UK stations — and local stations in between.

Transfers to major UK railway stations

Our long-distance service can take you from London to a station in another city. Examples include Reading, Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham New Street and Bristol Temple Meads. People book this when a car suits the journey better than the train: a group with luggage, a missed connection, or a station with an awkward change.

Train station transfers in England

Outside London, station transfers are booked like any other journey. Give us your pickup address and the station, and the booking form will show the estimated fare for the distance.

Local train station pickup and drop-off

For local stations in and around London, the same pre-booked service applies. Give us the station name and which entrance you'll use. Larger suburban stations often have more than one.

How to Book a Train Station Transfer

Six steps from journey details to confirmed booking.

Enter your pickup and drop-off locations

Enter the station and your other address. For arrivals, the station is your pickup. For departures, it's your drop-off.

Choose your travel date and time

For departures, pick a time that gets you to the station with a margin before your train. For arrivals, use your train's scheduled arrival time.

Select your train station transfer vehicle

Choose the vehicle by passengers and luggage. Rail travellers often carry more than they would on a local trip.

Receive your transfer quote

The booking form shows your estimated fare for the journey and vehicle you've chosen. This is an estimated fare — you can confirm your fare at booking.

Confirm your train station taxi booking

Check the station name and time, then confirm. Keep your booking details handy on the day.

Meet your driver at the agreed pickup location

For station pickups, your pickup details are included with your booking. They point you to the station's private hire pickup point, not the black-cab rank.

Train Station Pickup and Drop-Off Arrangements

Private hire and taxi ranks work very differently at London stations.

Picking up passengers from a train station

In London, private hire cars can't use taxi ranks, even briefly; TfL's rules reserve ranks for licensed taxis. So your driver meets you at the station's designated pickup point or car park. Leave the platform, follow the signs for the pickup area, and check the details in your booking.

Dropping off passengers at a train station

Drop-offs are quick: drivers can stop only for as long as it takes you to get out and unload. At King's Cross, for example, there are drop-off points on Pancras Road. At Waterloo, Sandel Street is used for drop-offs.

Planning your journey around train departure times

Train doors close shortly before departure; at Liverpool Street, Greater Anglia closes them 30 seconds before. If you're catching a Eurostar from St Pancras, check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. Book your pickup so you arrive with time to find your platform, not just to reach the building.

What happens if your train is delayed?

Give us your train's scheduled arrival time and, if you can, the service you're on when you book. If you know you'll be late, contact us with your booking details as early as possible.

Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Train Station Transfer

Every group size and luggage load covered.

Saloon

Up to four passengers and two large suitcases. It suits most solo and couple station transfers, and it's the lowest fare on our rate card.

Executive car

For business travellers arriving for meetings, or anyone wanting a more refined journey from the station.

MPV

Up to six passengers with luggage. It suits families travelling by train with a case each.

Executive MPV

MPV space with a premium vehicle, for business groups arriving together.

8-Seater MPV

Up to eight passengers, so a whole group arriving on the same train travels together.

Estimated fares for 10-mile train station transfers by vehicle

Vehicle for luggage-heavy journeys

Rail travellers often carry more than they expect. Long-distance trains, Eurostar services and connecting routes mean passengers frequently arrive with multiple large cases. An MPV carries up to six passengers with their luggage, keeping the whole party — and all their bags — in one vehicle from the station door.

Train Station Transfers for Different Travel Needs

Families, groups, business travellers, solo journeys.

Train station transfers for families

Getting children, pushchairs and suitcases off a train and onto the Tube is hard work. An MPV or estate collects everyone at once, with room for the bags.

Train station transfers for groups

For groups of five to eight, a 6, 7 or 8-seater MPV means one booking and one pickup point, rather than several cabs.

Train station transfers for business travellers

Arriving for a meeting, you want to get from the train to the office without delay. Book an executive car and give us the meeting address.

Train station transfers with luggage

Long-distance and Eurostar passengers often carry large cases. Choose an estate or MPV if you're carrying more than one large case each.

Private station transfers for individual travellers

Travelling alone, a saloon gives you a direct, private journey from the station.

Train Station Transfer Prices and Quotes

What Affects Your Station Transfer Price?

Understanding train station transfer prices

The distance between the station and your destination sets most of the fare. A King’s Cross to Bloomsbury hotel run sits comfortably inside the 5-mile minimum, while Paddington to Canary Wharf runs further. The rest comes down to the car. Rail travellers often underestimate their luggage, and moving up from a saloon to an estate costs far less than a second car. Extra stops and your travel time are part of the booking details too.

Why Choose Heathrow Airport Ride for Train Station Transfers?

Ten termini covered. Pickup points included. Luggage handled.

The awkward part of a station pickup isn’t the drive. It’s finding each other. Private hire cars can’t wait at London’s taxi ranks, so a pickup only works if both sides know the right meeting point. Your pickup details point you to the station’s private hire point, not the black-cab queue.

We cover all ten London termini, from Euston and King’s Cross to Waterloo and London Bridge, and the booking form shows an estimated fare before you book. Estates and MPVs handle the luggage that comes off long-distance and Eurostar trains. And when the station is only one leg of a bigger trip, the same booking covers our Heathrow airport taxi and long-distance journeys.
